Ongoing research and future research challenges

Abstract Although a significant amount of research has already been conducted on the various aspects of foaming of a large variety of polymeric materials, much work still needs to be done in certain areas. The main scientific open questions and technological challenges, together with the current research trends and developments, are analyzed in this chapter with the aim of examining the perspectives for further advances in the field.
