Parenteral Support and Central Venous Access Overview

2019
Abstract Parenteral nutrition (PN) is a complex therapy requiring careful monitoring in the hospital and home settings. While PN has been a life-sustaining therapy for many patients with short bowel syndrome and other conditions causing gastrointestinal dysfunction, it is not without potential for complications. Diligent selection of appropriate patients, practice-based clinical monitoring, and vascular access selection require the nutrition support clinician to oversee many facets in developing an individualized nutrition care plan.
