A STUDY ON REPLACING QUARTZ SAND WITH RECYCLED GLASS SAND AS A FILLER FOR EPOXY MORTAR FLOOR INTERMEDIATE COATING

2016
This paper determines the feasibility of using recycled glass sand as a filler for epoxy mortar floor intermediate coating. Three important quality characteristics of floor intermediate coating including compressive strength, abrasion and usable time are investigated. The four control factors are the combination of the particle size of the recycled glass sand, the ratio of the particle size, the ratio of the raw materials and the types of epoxy resin. Fractional factorial design is used to reduce the number of the experiments. Thus, an L_9 orthogonal array is used to execute the experiments. The optimum combination of factor levels is obtained by making appropriate compromises when different quality characteristics require different optimum levels. Finally, a confirmation experiment is conducted to ensure that improvements in multiple quality characteristics are achieved. The results show that recycled glass sand can be reused as a filler for epoxy mortar floor intermediate coating, which saves energy and reduces carbon consumption and results in a green building material.
