Temperature dependent surface images of barium titanate and rochelle salt observed by atomic force microscopy

Abstract We used atomic force microscope (AFM) to study temperature variation of the surface morphology of ferroelectric BaTiO3 and NaKC4H4O6. 4H2O. For BaTiO3 the observation was made from room temperature to 130°C range and annihilation of the surface structure due to 90° domain boundaries was detected. For NaKC4H4O6. 4H2O, the observation was made from around 30°C to 10°C and the surface gradient change due to the monoclinic distortion was detected below around 24°C.
