O comportamento do camundongo swiss webster em biotério de experimentação: observações e reflexões

2016
The mouse of Swiss Webster lineage, widely used in the vivarium, demonstrate a complex and varied repertoire of individual and social behavior. The importance of knowledge of these behaviors can be directly associated with routine handling and increase of animal welfare. When used in experimental animal facilities, the refinement of techniques, use of non-invasive parameters and development of cli¬nical/behavioral models becomes essential to have knowledge of the main physical characteristics, the dynamics of its healthy development and reproductive aspects. We also emphasize that knowledge of the animal model is a basic requirement for any kind of use of such individuals in biomedical assays. Furthermore, it is impor¬tant to recognize and avoid behavioral changes, such as aggression and violence among adult male groups, in order to minimize the emergence of these behaviors that directly compromise the animal welfare, the confiability and reproducibility projects and experiments.
