Sealing assembly electrode (700) designed for use with an electrosurgical instrument for sealing tissue, comprising: first and second jaw members (710, 720) that can be moved from a first position, in which they are separated from each another, at least one second position for grasping tissue therebetween, wherein the jaw members include sealing plates (712a, 712b) conductive opposite power arranged together, wherein the sealing plates conductive electricity have surfaces (727a, 727b) to contact the respective tissue for grasping and sealing tissue therebetween when the jaw members are in the second position, wherein at least one jaw member including: a thermoelectric cooling plate (718 , 728), said plate first thermoelectric cooling and second electrical connections (734a, 734b, 736a, 736b) arranged on opposite faces of the thermoelectric cooling plate, said first connection configured to selectively transmit a first electrical potential being and being such second connection configured to selectively transmit a second electrical potential, so that the heat generated by the sealing plates is transferred away from it via tissue thermoelectric cooling plate; a first surface (730, 740) of the thermoelectric cooling plate and an outer surface of the sealing plate of a material (780, 782) thermally conductive, electrically insulating disposed therein, so that the heat generated on the surface contact with the tissue of the sealing plate electrically conductive is transferred through the sealing plate and through the thermally conductive material, electrically insulating the first surface of the thermoelectric cooling plate, wherein the at least one jaw member further includes a heat sink (818, 828) disposed in direct contact with a second surface (732, 742) of the thermoelectric cooling plate, wherein the heat sink includes a refrigerant pipe (850 , 852) disposed through the heat sink (818, 823).
