Pilon fractures: Use of theposterolateral approach for orif

Abstract Pilon fractures remain on of the most difficult problems for the orthopaedic traumatologist to manage. The greatest challenge in the operative management of these fractures continues to be soft tissue complications. The aim of this report is to briefly review the most recent techniques for surgical repair of pilon fractures and describe a new technique for open reduction and internal fixation of this difficult clinical entity using a single posterolateral incision.
