Water Contamination and Its Antagonistic Impacts on Human Well-Being—A Case Study of Golden River of East Singhbhum (Subarnarekha River)

When the nation is battling to reach a stage to control the release of industrial effluents into their ecosystem, Indian economy holds a twofold edged sword of financial development and environment collapse. This circumstance thus causes irreparable environmental hazard, and this paper tries to portray likely water contamination and its antagonistic impacts on human well-being, for example, like the case of water quality of river Subarnarekha has been discussed. Six samples were collected from six different Ghats of Subarnarekha river and various parameters like pH-Alkalinity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) were analysed, to find the change in the quality of water due to industrialization and its effect on human and aquatic life.
