Surgery or Non-surgery in Borderline Skeletal Class III Malocclusion

2004
It's hard to determine the treatment plan for the patient with Skeletal Class Ⅲ Malocclusion, there are several factors that will affect the results of the treatment, these are: molar relationship, skeletal pattern, profile and age. A 16 year-old male patient showed an ANB of-3.5°skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion; whether the bone will grow or not are on the border line at this age. Surgical or non-surgical treatment will be used are on the borderline for the patient with this skeletal pattern. Non-surgical method was used only by palatal lateral expansion, four bicuspids extraction, tongue guard, combined with myofunctional therapy and finally got a good result. After one year follow up, complications were not found, and the results are still maintained in good satisfaction.
