A Scenario-Based BioAPI Conformance Test Technique to Apply a Telebiometric System Model to the National Infrastructure Establishment

2009
Many issues need to be resolved before biometrics technology can be applied to the national network. Most importantly, the national network must be implemented with a standard interface so that interoperability can be guaranteed. Based on this requirement, an infrastructure with a well-established model should be developed. Considering that biometric products are embedded in various sensors in a ubiquitous environment, a methodology for inspecting BioAPI standard suitability is needed that can support a distributed environment. This paper explains the TSM, which is the development model for the biometric system. In addition, it also proposes a scenario-based conformance testing technique for BioAPI specification that verifies whether the BioAPI module runs appropriately in the environment that is suitable for each model structure, by analyzing 9 TSM models. To implement the suggested technique, we define XML test assertion that extends the international standard ISO/IEC 24709-1. The suggested testing technique enables the identification of errors or problems of the BSP module that cannot be detected by the existing simple function test method, by making the testing environment the same as the actual distributed environment.
