The effects of either resveratrol supplementation or aerobic exercise training combined with a low fat diet on the molecules of adipogenesis and adipocyte inflammation in high fat diet-induced obese mice

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness between resveratrol supplementation and aerobic exercise training with a low fat diet on adipogenesis and inflammatory molecules in adipocytes of high fat diet-induced obese mice. C57BL/6 mice (4 weeks old, n = 15) were fed a high fat diet (45% fat) for 12 weeks first and a low fat diet (l0% fat) for 8 weeks later. The mice were divided into 3 groups: low-fat diet control (HLC; n = 5). Low-fat diet with resveratrol (FILR: n = 5) or low-fat diet with exercise (FILE; n = 5). FILE performed treadmill running for 30-60 mm/day at 10-22 m/mim, 0% grade. five Limes per week for 8 weeks. After 20 weeks of intervention. epididyrnal pads were dissected and analyzed. The body weight and adipose tissue mass of HLE was significantly reduced compared to HLC (p <0.01). FAS expression of I-ILR and FILE were significantly decreased compared to HLC (p <-0.01). ACC expression of FILE was significantly decreased compared to HLC (P < 0.01). The TNF-a expression of HLR and HLE were significantly decreased compared to HLC (P< 0.01). MCP-l expression of HLE was significantly decreased compared to HLC (p <0.05). These results suggest that both aerobic exercise and resveratrol supplementation with a low-fat diet have a positive effect to ameliorate the obese-induced metabolic disturbances compared to a low fat diet alone. However, it seems that aerobic exercise with a low fat diet is more effective to obese-induced metabolic deregulation.
