PRODUCTION OF ASCOSPORES BY PIEDRAIA

SUMMARY Transplantation technique enhances considerably the in vitro production of ascospores by two strains of Piedraia hortai, and biotin also may exert a favorable effect on their production. Asci and ascospores produced in vitro are similar in their morphology to those described in vivo. However, in vitro a loculus may contain more asci than in vivo.
