FATIGUE PROPERTIES OF STEEL FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE PAVEMENT STRUCTURE

1998
As a kind of advanced pavement structure type, concrete pavement has a wide range of strength properties, but its brittleness affects its performance and life. To modify this, fiber, especially steel fiber, is used to mix into concrete. In this paper, two conclusions were drawn through the load bearing capacity and fatigue property comparison tests of full-scale pure concrete slabs and concrete slabs admixed with variable amounts of steel fiber on the semi-rigid type base: 1) The steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) pavement structure can be designed with present design theory systems of concrete pavement structure. 2) The fatigue equation of SFRC was built on the accumulated axle-load acting number and steel fiber content. It is proved that the formula presented can be applied to guide the engineering practice of SFRC.
