The tube stapling technique in surgery treatment of gastrorectal cancer

2003
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of stapling technique in the digestive tract anastomosis. We retrospectively analyzed 30 patients undergoing esophagojejunostomy and 35 patients undergoing low colorectal anastomosis with the Chinese-made EEA staple from January 1997 to January 2002.The 30 patients suffered from cardical and upper gastric carcinoma including 14 cases of stage II, 12 cases of stage III and 4 cases of stage IV. The 35 patients suffered from rectal carcinoma including 5 cases of Dukers A, 17 cases of Dukers B, and 13 cases of Dukers C. The anastomosis of all cases were smoothly during the operation.complication included anastomotic fistula in 2 patients (3.1%), anastomotic stenosis in 2 (3.1%),no operation mortality. The experience suggests the technique by with the Chinese-made EEA staple allow esophoago-jejunostomy and low colorectal anastomosis which would be difficult with hand-sewn method.
