Superconducting TlBaCaCuO thin films from BaCaCuO precursors

2008
We report new results of a two‐step process for making superconducting TlBa‐CaCuO thin films. The first step is to make a precursor film with the stoichiometry of Ba2Ca2Cu3O7 in an ambient atmosphere environment, using an RF plasma deposition technique. The second step is to thalliate (i.e., insert thallium) into the precursor by heating it in the presence of a thalliation agent, forming the Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3O 10+δ phase. The zero resistance temperature of one such film is 108K.
