SOME ASPECTS OF COMPUTER UTILIZATION IN MATERIALS DESIGN DIVISION OF NRIM

In the Materials Design Division of NRIM, effective way to create high-performance materials with the aid of computers is extensively searched. Successive effort has been made to improve the alloy design program, showing its power in the development of a number of Ni-base superalloys and two phase Ti alloys in the last decade. Application of multivariate statistical analysis to get knowledge for the development of alloys has also been studied. To back up the development, studies on the effective structure of the factual database and on the way of application of knowledge-based system are being carried out.
