PHYSICAL-KINETIC THERAPY IN ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS WITH HIP ARTHROPLASTY

Patient diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis in 1985, who underwent left hip arthroplasty in 2006 has presented for cervical pain, right hip joint pain, difficulties in walking. Complaints are accompanied by dysfunctionality, thus, affecting activities of daily life. Musculoskeletal examination detected: limping, gluteal muscles weakness, changes in spine and hips statics and mobility, identified through specific testing and measures. Diagnosis: Ankylosing spondylitis, clinical, functional and radiological stage 4, central- peripherical type, in activity. Restrictive ventilatory insufficiency. Right hip osteoarthritis secondary to coxitis. Status post left hip arthroplasty. Blindness of left eye. Hypertriglyceridemia. Treatment objectives: control of pain and inflammation, combat contractures, retractions and functional muscle imbalances, reeducation of posture, symmetry and body alignment and gait, recovering joint mobility, muscle tone and trophy, improve respiratory function. Therapeutic means: hygienic-dietary measures, medication, surgery, the patient has surgical indication for right hip prosthesis, rehabilitation treatment with hydrokinetotherapy, physical therapy, paraffin, electrotherapy, massage, laser.
