Association of TRIB3 gene +251A/G polymorphism with carotid atherosderosis in hypertensive patients

2012
Objective To investigate the effect of TRIB3 gene polymorphism on carotid atherosclerosis in hypertensive patients. Methods A total of 400 subjects were recruited in.the study including control group ( n =200) and hypertension group ( n =200). These 400 subjects were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction-restrictive fragment length polymorphism ( PCR-RFIP). All of them underwent carotid ultrasonography. Results Compared to the controls, the hypertensive patients showed increased IMT ( t =39.223,P < 0.01) ; The CG allele carriers had more thickened IMT than the AA allele carriers ( t =22.235,P < 0.001) ; The Logistic regression analysis suggested that the G allele is the risk factors for carotid atherosclerosis ( OR =2.116, 95% CI:1.045 ~4.721, P =0.031). Furthermore, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure and fasting blood glucose are risk factors for thickened IMT.Conclusion Those hypertensive patients carrying TRIB3 gene +251A/G polymorphism G allele were susceptible to carotid atherosclerosis =Hypertension;Carotid atherosclerosis ;TRIB3 ;Polymorphism Key words: Hypertension; Carotid atherosclerosis ; TRIB3 ; Polymorphism
