Construction of First Gas Insulated Transmission Line in Japan

The first commercial gas insulated transmission line (GIL) in Japan, a 154kV system, was completed in one of the substations of The Tokyo Electric Power Company Inc. in July, 1979. Thereafter, a 275kV GIL was constructed in March, 1980. This paper describes the details of the design, installation, and tests of these GILs.
