Winding Through the Finest Norwegian Nature: National Tourist Roads - A Major Boost to Norway's Travel & Tourism Industry

2008
Begun in 1994 as a trial project, Norway's National Tourist Roads Project has experienced extensive planning, development, and construction. Consisting of eighteen national tourist roads, the project is slated to begin full-scale marketing in 2012. Designed to attract motoring tourists and, subsequently, promote rural development and private enterprise through travel and tourism, the tourist roads will harmonize with Norway's coastlines, mountains, and fjords and offer unique rest stops and facilities. Factors relating to architecture, funding, planning and more are discussed by the author.
