Experimental research on deformation localization of mud-sand stone in quasi-plane strain state

A quasi-plane strain experimental device is designed.This device is implemented to analyze deformation localization phenomenon of Chongqing red mud-sand stone in quasi-plane state.Some specimens are tested in various loading speeds;and some are researched with different water contents.During the experiment,the onset of deformation localization has been monitored by elastic wave.The results show that,in quasi-plane strain state,there is a logarithm-like relation between the angle of localization band and loading speed.It is also shown that the water content could impact on the onset of deformation localization.
