The Role of Biodiversity Research for the Local Scientific Community

This chapter presents the major achievements in the process of environmental education, capacity building, development of scientific infrastructure, and knowledge transfer regarding biodiversity and ecosystem services after 15 years of cooperation between the German research programs, the scientific community, and other committed groups of the civil society of South Ecuador.
