“Paul Eduard Dreams of America” is a corrupt cento—that is, it started as a proper cento but as the poem progressed, the language became transformed. But it is in the voice of the French Surrealist, Paul Eduard, or more accurately, the poem is a hybrid of Eduard’s voice and my own.
