A rare case of squamous cell carcinoma arising from nasal vestibule

2019
Abstract Squamous cell carcinoma of the nasal vestibule (SCCNV) is a rare neoplasm and is often misdiagnosed as vestibulitis or past local trauma. A 69-year-old male patient presented with a nasal vestibular mass that had been initially diagnosed as a benign neoplasm. He underwent surgical resection of the tumor including the right alar tissue and the final diagnosis was T1 lesion of SCCNV. We herein discuss the diagnosis and therapeutic modalities of SCCNV. Although previous reports recommend radiotherapy for early stage SCCNV, we instead recommend complete resection followed by reconstructive surgery as an optimal treatment to overcome possible recurrence and delayed complication after radiotherapy.
