Linear H/sub /spl infin// optimal control of a two degree of freedom magnetic suspension system

Most magnetic suspension systems used in industrial and research applications tend to have highly nonlinear dynamics with significant parametric and nonparametric uncertainties. In this paper, a linear H/sub /spl infin// control law based on the mixed-sensitivity approach is developed for a magnetic suspension system possessing two degrees of freedom. A prototype suspension system was designed and constructed to provide a direct comparison between the actual and theoretical controller performances.
