Development and Investigation of Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Cast and Hot Forged AL2014-TIB 2 In Situ Composite by Stir Casting

Fabrication of Al2014-TiB2 In situ composite was carried out by liquid metallurgical process. The cast and forged specimens were subjected to studies such as microstructure, density measurement, hardness, tensile and impact test. Homogenous distribution of TiB2 particles in both as cast and hot extruded conditions was revealed in the microstructure study which is a result of excellent bonding between the matrix and reinforcement. Density, micro hardness, tensile, impact strength of In situ composites is high compared with Al2014.
