Speech Analysis of Kidney Donors ‐ Social Psychological Approach. I n t r o d u c t i o n : Each year, the number of kidney transplant has been continuously increasing in Brazil. Today, few studies are approaching aspects of the kidney dona tion practice in this country. The objective of this study was to analyze social repre sentation of kidney living donors about the kidney donation process. M e t h o d s : Adopted method was a cross-cut with qualitative nature and with social psycholog ical basis. Thirty donors from the Federal University of Sao Paulo were interviewed within five to three hundred and thirty days past kidney surgery donation. Examina tion procedures consisted of semi-structured interviews with identification data, and four open questions. Interviews were audio-taped, transcribed and analyzed accord ing to Collective Subject’s Discourse procedures technique by: Central Idea, Key Expressions and Collective Subject’s Discourse. R e s u l t s : The previous transplant phase was characterized by decision-making process and emotional reactions while waiting for surgery, such as, fears, anxiety and body concerns.
