2. Crohn's Disease of the Rectum -A Case Report and Some Considerations on its Pathogenesis

1977
A case of Crohn's disease of the recutm was reported. The patient was a 29-year-old male with the chief complaint of constipation. Repeated biopsies were negative for malignancy. Rectal excision was performed with sphincter-saving procedure. Detailed histologic examination of the resected specimen confirmed the diagnosis of Crohn's disease of the rectum.2 years after surgery, he is doing quite well without any complaints. The etiology of the Crohn's disease still remains unclarified. There are many hypotheses. Among these, several authors has directed their attention to lymphatic obstruction, because the histologic findings of the Crohn's disease suggest the possibility of its participation ; for example, lymphatic aggregation, dilatation of the lymphatic vessels, submucosal edema, etc. When the etiology is clarified in future, the treatment of the Crohn's disease will be established.
