Head-on N+ + CO charge transfer collisions

Abstract Kinetic energy distributions of CO + ions produced by 10–85-eV lab N + + CO collisions have been measured in the lab-system forward direction (relative to the N + beam). Total product excitation energies ranging between 7 and 24 eV have been measured and assigned to known product states. Processes without product excitation are conspicuously absent. An interpretation in terms of orbital occupancies is given.
