Performance and energetic modeling of hybrid PV systems coupled with battery energy storage

2021
Abstract A large proportion of the energy used today in the world comes from fossil fuels which are considered exhaustible sources. The depletion of these resources and the global warming that their combustion causes had led us to consider the development of renewable energy resources. Nowadays, these latter resources are gradually becoming competing with fossil fuels from the point of view of cost and production performance. They are clean and inexhaustible and therefore capable of covering our long-term energy needs. The main aim of this chapter is to study a hybrid power system that combines a photovoltaic system with batteries and an electric network. This hybrid system has been designed, sized, and studied to meet the energy needs of a house located in the Ifrane region, Morocco. A complete system analysis has been performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed model over a one week period. This has been done based on the forecast of weather conditions, photovoltaic production, state of charge of batteries, and energy consumption using a dynamic simulator.
