Spectral contribution of coherent motions in a turbulent boundary layers

1995
Our purpose work is to study in a turbulent boundary layer scale decompositions associated with the occurence of coherent events, using the wavelet transformation as an analysis tool. This transformation is a relatively recent mathematical technique that allows a localized analysis both in scale and in time. The coherent events, such as sweeps and ejections, are detected either by the quadrant analysis method using the velocity components u and v, or by the VITA and WAG algorithms using temperature as a passive marker.
