High-pressure isolating valves are equipped with wedge-shaped or parallel sealing elements. Wedge-shaped isolating elements are in one piece, flexible or rigid. They can also be designed in two pieces, with sprung or rigid spacers. Parallel isolating elements are used in the high-pressure range only as two-piece elements with spring spacers. The choice of suitable isolating elements depends on the various boundary conditions. An appropriate actuating concept in connection with the set task is essential. Analysis offers an aid to objective judgement and a selection of sealing elements.
