Sequencing and Analysis of Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Romanomermis wuchangensis

2010
The mitochondrial genome of Romanomermis wuchangensis was sequenced by combining the rolling circle amplification with two-step long PCR.The results show that the mitochondrial genome of R.wuchangensis is 14832 base pairs in length. It contains 37 genes, including 12 protein-coding genes,2 ribosomal RNA and 23 transfer RNA,and also contains a putative control region and an AT-rich sequence. The characteristics of the mitochondrial genome of 7 species in Mermithidae were summarized.Firstly, gene orders of mitochondrial genome in Mermithidae are different;secondly, gene duplication exists and its frequency is variable among some species;thirdly, the sizes of complete mitochondrial genomes are different from the size 14 kb to 26 kb.
