Oxidation of thioglycolic acid using dichloramine-T in glacial acetic acid medium.

Thioglycolic acid (I) was detd. by titrn. in HOAc with the oxidant dichloramine-T under CO2. The titrn. was monitored potentiometrically or visually by using a starch-KI indicator. I (0.148-0.889 mmole) was detd. with �0.004 mmole abs. error. The oxidn. reaction involves transfer of 1 electron. [on SciFinder(R)]
