The fate of second kidney transplant after recurrence of glomerulonephritis in the first transplant

1997
Though recurrent primary glomerulonephritis (PG) currently accounts for only less than 2% of all graft failures in the adult [1, 2, 3, 4], this rate is expected to increase with both the improvement of patient and graft survivals and the ineffectiveness of most attempts at recurrence treatment. The patient who has lost a first graft to PG recurrence expectedly wishes proper information on the risk of recurrence in a further graft. Except for focal glomerulosclerosis (FGS) [5, 6, 7], there is very scarce data on this issue in the literature. We thus decided to review our experience with the fate of a second transplant in patients who had recurrence of PG in their first transplant.
