Investigation and study on prevalence and control condition of hypertension in residents of Tianjin city

Objective To know the prevalence,the rate of awareness,treatment and control condition of hypertension in residents of Tianjin city,and in order to provide basis for the prevention and control of hypertension.Methods The investigations of prevalence,awareness,treatment and control condition of hypertension were carried out in the community residents by using the method of household survey.Results Two thousand eight humdred and fifty-six people were investigated.Male blood pressure levels higher than female(P0.01).The prevalence of hypertension was 34.63%,and the number of male hypertension was higher than female(P0.01).The proportion of female in the ideal blood pressure(27.70%) was higher than male (15.32%)(P0.01).The proportion of level 1 hypertension of abnormal blood pressure in the total population was 17.12%. The rates of awareness,treatment and control of hypertension were 54.70%,23.56%and 14.76%respectively.Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension was high,but the rates of awareness,treatment and control were relatively low in Tianjin city.The comprehensive prevention and control of hypertension were needed.
