Characterization of Laboratory and In Situ Macrotexture of a BBTM 0/6 Mixture and Description of Its Indicators

2008
This paper deals with the macrotexture assessment of a very thin asphalt concrete called BBTM 0/6 and the measurement methods used to characterize the evolution of macrotexture. The aim is to compare laboratory results with measurement performed in situ. Samples were compacted with different modes, either in the laboratory or in situ. Sand Patch Method and optical scanning by laser measurements were achieved to assess the sample surface macrotexture. Results indicate that laboratory compaction procedures used for this mixture allow reproducing in situ textures satisfactorily.
