Leiomyoma of Tongue-A Case Report & Review of Literature

2012
Blanc in 1884 reported the first case of soft tissue leiomyoma which is a benign neoplasm arising from smooth muscle. The origin of leiomyoma in the oral cavity may be from vascular smooth muscle and excretory ducts of salivary glands. The tumor mainly manifests as a slow-growing, asymptomatic lesion. We report a case of leiomyoma of tongue in a 50-year old female with review of literature.
