A Cross Sectional Study On The Prevalence Of Diabetes among Residents In Binnan Community Of Shengli Oil Field,2009-2010

[Objective] To investigate the prevalence of diabetes mellitus(DM) among residents in community.[Methods]From March 2009 to March 2010,a household questionnaire survey and the fasting plasma glucose in the laboratory examination were conducted for 9 819 residents over 16 in Binnan community of Shengli Oil Field with a cluster sampling on their DM.[Results]The crude prevalence rate of DM and impaired fasting glucose(IFG) was 8.07% and10.62% respectively and the standardized prevalence rate was 5.24% and 7.46% by age adjusted among 9 230 residents.The prevalence rate of IFG for male and female was 12.05% and 9.38% respectively(P0.05),and which for mental workers and physical laborers was 12.76% and 9.34% respectively(P0.01).The prevalence rate of DM for male and female was 8.38% and 7.80% respectively(P0.05),which increased with age(P0.01).The prevalence rate of IFG for teachers was the highest,which for field workers was the lowest.There was a difference among the people with different occupations(P0.01).[Conclusion]The prevalence rate of DM and IFG among residents in Binnan community was high.
