Effects of soil compaction on photosynthetic parameters and water use efficiency of Malus hupehensis seedling.

2009
A pot culture experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of soil compaction with 1.25g/cm3,1.40 g/cm3 and 1.55g/cm3 soil bulk density(SBD) on photosynthetic parameters and water use efficiency of Malus hupehensis leaves. The results showed that there were no significant difference in net photosynthetic rate(Pn),leaf water content and organization relative water content(RWC) between hree treatments, the stomatal conductance(Gs),intercellular CO2 concentration(Ci) and leaf transpiration rate(Tr) of the treatment with 1.55g/cm3 was significantly lower than the treatments with 1.25 g/cm3 and 1.40 g/cm3,but its instantaneous water use efficiency was significantly higher than the treatments with 1.25 g/cm3 and 1.40 g/cm3 and the chlorophyll content of different treatments was 1.40 g/cm3 1.25 g/cm3 1.55 g/cm3.
