Cartography in Algeria in the censuses of 1966 and 1977

The development of cartographic work in connection with the implementation of the 1966 and 1977 Algerian censuses is described. Changes in geographical divisions in Algeria since independence are discussed. Consideration is also given to the automatic production of maps of population distribution the value of accurate cartography in the preparation of surveys and the need for accurate maps in development planning.
