Laparoscopic sterilization with Falope ring (preliminary report)

Between November 1974 and February 1978 the Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology Provincial Referral Hospital Medan has performed laparoscopic sterilization on 1150 women while laparoscopic sterilization using the Falope ring has also been accomplished in 214 cases between February-July 1978. On follow-up examinations up to the present there have been no serious complications reported except for a sensation of pain. The main problem is that occasionally small tears or breaking of the ring could occur during insertion into the Falope ring dilator. Whether or not these defective rings increase the failure rate requires further investigation. (authors) (summary in ENG)
