Effect of yoga in pregnancy: a review

Yoga is ancient body practice that originated in India around 3300 BC for the purpose of cultivating a steady mind. Some stress during pregnancy is normal but when it becomes constant it adversely affects on mother and fetus both. Anxiety, depression, and stress in pregnancy are risk factors which can lead to preterm labor, low birth weight of the baby with consequence for infant development, pregnancy induced hypertension etc. It may also contribute to subtle differences in brain development that might lead to behavioral issues as the baby grows. Yoga is one of the way to relieve such problems like psychological conditions including anxiety, depression , pain syndromes, cardiovascular, immunological conditions in pregnancy.
