Large Obstetric Clinic

The obstetric clinic in a large municipal hospital must carry a huge patient load, coming for the most part from the lower socioeconomic groups. Many of these mothers do not take advantage of formal classes for expectant parents even when they are offered at the hospital. Opportunities in the clinic for individual counseling are limited by the sheer numbers of patients who must be seen. This situation is encoun-
