Comparison of nutrients in transgenic and non-transgenic cabbage (Brassica oleracea. L) for bio-safety evaluation

To avail the quality foodstuff with high productivity and sustainable agriculture, Bt-transgenic is being encouraged. Bio-safety appraisal of such transgenic crop is a must before they can be adopted for commercial cultivation. The nutritional content of non transgenic and Bt-transgenic variety of cabbage was compared for the reason. The potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulphur and proteins was taken can be taken as criteria to judge whether there is any adverse effect due to insertion of an alien gene. The transgenicity study of the cabbage was confirmed by PCR.
