ROCK DOWNFALLS IN THE CRIMEAN MOUNTAINS

Scattered and episodic data on rock downfalls in the Crimean Mountains have been gathered and represented in the paper. The geologic conditions, morphology, spatial and time distributions of rock downfalls are characterized. There are two types of rock downfalls: of seismic origin and spontaneous. Besides the rock downfalls of the last centuries with the fixed date special attention was paid to the ancient rock downfalls including those occurent in the geologic sections. Rock downfalls appeared to be of more frequent occurence in Crimea than was previously considered.
