Synthesis of m-dinitrobenzil and research on the conformational isomerism

m-Dinitrobenzil was synthesized in a higher yield from benzaldehyde through self-condention,oxidation and nitration.It is found that reaction temperature and solvent have great impact upon the conformational isomerism of dinitrobenzil.The product has been characterizated by HPLC/MS,IR,~1H NMR,and the result has been discussed in terms of its molecular structure.
