Monitoring of intracranial pressure for patients underwent surgery of intracranial aneurysm clipping

2011
Objective: To explore continuous intracranial pressure monitoring and nursing for patients underwent surgery of intracranial aneurysm clipping. Methods: Intracranial pressure of the 27 cases that underwent surgery of intracranial aneurysm clipping was continuously monitored. Results: Of the 27 patients,21 showed ICP of 5-20 mmHg and stable vital signs;5 cases showed ICP of 20-40 mmHg,of them,3 showed cerebral vasospasm, and 2 had acute cerebral edema, which were improved after corresponding treatment. One case showed ICP as high as 40 mmHg suddenly 10 hours after the surgery, which was caused by aneurysm rupture according to CT scan, the patient died despite emergent craniotomy hematoma decompression. Conclusion: Postoperative monitoring of intracranial pressure can help to improve clinical efficacy, reduce complications, and reduce mortality and disability for patients underwent surgery of intracranial aneurysm clipping.
