Experiment and research on a mesophilic anaerobic digester with dairy cattle manure in northern china

1989
Abstract The paper describes the structure and characteristic of the mesophilic anaerobic digestion facilities in Jinxing cow farm. The digester is above ground, spindle-like, with a spiral pipe type heat-exchanger and water efflux stirrer. Results of experiments on the relationship of solid content with biogas production are available, in particular analysing the relationship o of energy consumption and energy output during mesophilic operation. The optimum operation temperature has been determined when subjecting different kinds of manure to different temperatures. The optimum temperature is 35°C when cow manure was digested anaerobically and when the environment temperature is −7 to −6°C in winter. Maximum energy output can be obtained under those conditions.
