Introducao: A atividade fisica e fundamental na prevencao e controle das doencas cronicas entre idosos. Objetivo: Caracterizar as condicoes de saude de idosos praticantes de atividades fisicas regulares residentes no Municipio de Passo Fundo, RS. Metodologia: Estudo epidemiologico seccional de natureza descritiva e analitica, onde foi aplicado um questionario socio-demografico e clinico em 165 individuos idosos. Resultados: Houve predominância do sexo feminino 134 (81,21%), na faixa etaria dos 60-69 anos 84 (50,90%). Em relacao a escolaridade 60 (36,36%) idosos tinham ensino fundamental incompleto e 66 (40,00%) possuiam renda individual de 1 salario minimo. A hipertensao foi a patologia mais prevalente em 91 (73,98%) idosos e 137 (83,3%) usavam medicamentos. Participavam de grupos de terceira idade 140 (84,84) idosos e 85 (51,5%) consideravam sua saude boa. Conclusao: Observa-se um processo de mudanca na cultura dos idosos com relacao aos cuidados com sua propria saude, atraves medidas preventivas, como a pratica regular de atividade fisica. Objective: To characterize the health conditions of elderly people practicing regular physical activity residing in the city of Passo Fundo, RS. Methodology: An epidemiological cross-sectional descriptive and analytical in nature, where a questionnaire was administered sociodemographic and clinical in 165 elderly subjects. Results: There was a predominance of females 134 (81.21%), aged 60-69 years 84 (50.90%). Regarding schooling, 60 (36.36%) elders had incomplete primary education and 66 (40.00%) had an individual income of minimum wage. Hypertension was the most prevalent pathology in 91 (73.98%) elderly and 137 (83.3%) used medications. Participated in the third age group 140 (84.84) and 85 elderly (51.5%) considered their health good. Conclusion: There is a process of change in the culture of the elderly relative to care for their own health through preventive measures such as regular physical activity. Key words: Epidemiologic.
